If you haven’t already heard, we have some fantastic news about the next World Scout Jamboree being held in North America in 2019 – Surrey have been given three units. This is a complete extra unit compared to Japan and will be the most Scouts Surrey has sent to a World Scout Jamboree since 2007! We’re just confirming how many places will be available for Reigate – more details soon.
The plans and the site for the Jamboree look incredible – have a look at http://www.2019wsj.org/ to get a feel for it. It’s going to be an incredible, life-changing adventure for all those who take part.
The applications will open in a little over a week’s time. Don’t worry – we’ll let you know and there will be plenty of time to apply as it won’t close unit September.
We’re arranging two information evenings for your young people to find out more about the Jamboree and why they should apply:
Monday 26th June, 8pm
1st/2nd Horley Scout HQ, off Balcombe Road, Horley, RH6 9GA
Thursday 13th July, 8pm
17th Reigate Scout HQ, St Joseph’s Church, Ladbrooke Road, Redhill, RH1 1LF
Anyone applying needs to have been born between 22 July 2001 and 21 July 2005. They will also need to keep the weekend of 14th/15th October free as that’s when we’ll be holding the Reigate District selection event.
If anyone can’t make those evenings and wants to know know, please put them in touch with me. You don’t have to attend the presentation to apply!
I’ve attached a couple of posters that you can display to let your young people know – I’ll also circulate some explaining how to apply soon.
And for anyone that will be 18 or over at the time of the Jamboree you’ll be able to apply as part of the International Sevice team. Look out for details in the autumn or you can reigister your interest at http://ukcontingent.co.uk/jamboree-2019/ist-expression-of-interest-wsj-2019/.
